During these special days, we will host a party at the shelter by decorating a room, engaging children with planned games, activities, or entertainment, providing yummy treats, and making sure the kiddos have FUN.

We provide a box of toys for the birthday kiddo and a grocery store gift card for the mom to purchase food and birthday treats. If the child/youth is older they receive a box of various gift cards to fast food places in the area and toiletry items.

The kiddos birthday gift is requested from IYBI's Amazon Wish List. The gifts are delivered to the shelter for the mom to wrap and gift to their kiddo. It's a great opportunity for the birthday kiddo to receive exactly what they want on their special day.

We provide mothers who give birth while in the shelter the option to select items from a special Amazon Wish List. These items can be for her newborn or something special for her during this difficult time. We want her to know she is special.

IYBI purchases store-bought cupcakes for the the birthday kiddo in elementary schools to share with their classmates. If requested, they will also receive a Build-a-Bear. They are told the cupcakes are from mom, making her the birthday hero!
